The evolution of the Cybergun 24/7 G2 (Ex. Taurus 24/7)

The evolution of the Cybergun 24/7 G2 (Ex. Taurus 24/7)
7 December 2021

Everything flows, everything changes. Rules applicable everywhere in life, including in the airsoft community. New models appear regularly, offering something "different". Unfortunately for the consumer, however, these "innovations" are often more marketing moves than actually useful and sought-after changes. It is really rare that in the same external model there is some change aimed at improving the quality of the product. A new product with loud advertisements is much more likely to be launched after some other cosmetic change - such as a new colour, or "more tactical" exterior details. However, there are exceptions and today we will tell you about one of them.

Cybergun (ex. Taurus) 24/7 G2:

In its first version, it was a great airsoft pistol with an extremely strong Hop-up, a solid assembly and for some, who might not be expecting it, a strong recoil. It was not without its teething problems and quirks however: Due to its strong spring , if the slide was cocked too gently, it used to get stuck in an intermediate position. This is not particularly noticeable when shooting BB’s, but when training "dry" it was an annoying nuisance. Another nuisance was that after a certain shot (about 2000 BB’s) wear was noticed on the outer barrel in the places where it contacts the slide. Another strange thing was that this model came with an unacceptable amount of energy for Airsoft games: 1.8 J. Of course, after modifications on our part, this energy level was brought within the "normal" limits but wouldn't it be more logical for this model to come ready for games? The last feature that some people liked, but others did not, was the particularly sensitive trigger safety - if it was not pressed strictly in the "right" way, the shot could not be reproduced. For some it was a good way to practice "proper" interaction with the trigger, for others unnecessary "extra".

The strangest thing for us was the excessive muzzle energy and we asked this question to our colleagues from Cybergun. A few months later we got the next generation of the model, where it came with a muzzle energy limited to 1J. However, for those who like to destroy targets in their yard, there is still the possibility of regaining the previous strength.

Encouraged by the fact that the French are ready to listen and make changes that the consumer wants to get, we paid attention to other things that left an unpleasant aftertaste, despite all the great qualities of the model.

After about a year we received the 3rd generation of the model, where we had 4 changes hidden from the naked eye, but totally changing the behavior of the gun:

- Modified inner barrel with reinforced "tooth" for greater durability.

- Completely modified cocking mechanism, with much lower resistance, which allows the slide to return from any position and without the need for sharp cocking.

- Modified magazines with slightly changed volumes of the internal chambers in order to more efficiently consume CO2.

- Modified trigger safety, allowing a wider range of interaction before blocking

After these changes, the Cybergun 24/7 G2 can now be called one of the best airsoft C02 pistol replicas.

And so, without unnecessary noise, loud presentations and other marketing tricks, one of our favorite pistols was perfected according to the requirements of the user - corporate behavior, worthy of example.
